Prince William Will Participate in COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in South America in the coming weeks, as confirmed by palace sources.

Prince William and King Charles appeared together on Thursday night at a event leading up to the environmental conference, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

Father and son were participating in the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

King Charles has been a long-time champion of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the climate conference.

Palace insiders have characterized the Prince's participation at the next COP as assuming an important role in "global climate discussions".

Previous Activities

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were greeted participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation included speaking in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.

Earthshot Awards Connection

The COP30 summit will dovetail with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will finish in the Brazilian city the day before he attends the COP summit on November 6th.

Last week the William described the award contenders as "contemporary champions".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a significant amount of my life trying to raise awareness about the existential threats confronting humanity over global warming, global temperature increases and species extinction," the monarch informed participants.
